The Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting and Hinewai Ormsby opened with a karakia.

Communication and Engagement Update |

Rebecca Ashcroft – Cullen introduced this item, discussions included: · Mana whenua engagement has commenced with an initial hui however recent COVID issues has impacted our ability to engage. As an interim measure, a pre-recorded presentation being circulated and feedback being sought via email. Tania Hopmans joined the meeting 10.18am · Shipping container is proposed for community consultation over Nov / Dec - initial suggested locations are Haumoana, Clive, Napier and Westshore · TAG members have been active in engagement activities; Committee member participation is encouraged – if further Mana Whenua hui are confirmed TAG will advise Committee members so they have the opportunity to attend. |

Project Manager's Update |

Simon provided an update: · All Councils involved have agreed in principle to the adoption of Mr. Raynor Asher’s funding review · The workstreams involved are all progressing well · Managed Retreat workstream update will be provided to the Committee at its next meeting 19 November 2021 · Budget is on track however costs for formal consultations next year are still being refined; this will be reported upon at the next Committee meeting |

Current Coastal Projects Update |

Chris Dolley introduced the item. · Whakarire Ave. Revetment Works – NCC has started discussions with Ngati Paarau Hapu Trust. Tenders will be sought in October 2021 – expected start date is February 2022.Authority is being sought from DoC to manage the penguins on site. NCC is meeting with residents to discuss targeted rates for the project. · Westshore sand deposition – HBRC consent proposal to NCC has been slowed by a lack of feedback from DoC who may now provide this during the consent process itself · Haumoana 18 – still being progressed. Community may need independent legal advice about consent costs and their legal rights after construction has been completed · Capeview Corner – wall construction has been completed · Whirinaki – residents are contacted as any issues arise |
That the Clifton to Tangoio Coastal Hazards Strategy Joint Committee receives the “Coastal Projects Update” and agrees that the Capeview Corner project no longer needs to be reported upon. CARRIED |
